
What’s good ya’ll? Today we’re cookin’ up some Beef and Broccoli – a classic Chinese-American dish. This recipe has been twisted and turned by many people, but we got the right one – trust me on this.
Recipe 1: Gimme Some Oven
Ingredients:
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Serve with rice
Instructions:
- Toss the flank steak with cornstarch until it’s fully coated. Set aside.
- Heat up 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the sliced beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add another tablespoon of vegetable oil to the skillet and throw in the broccoli. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until it’s tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Whisk together until everything’s combined. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens up.
- Add the beef and broccoli back into the skillet with the sauce. Stir together until everything’s fully coated. Serve with rice.
Recipe 2: Cookies and Cups
Ingredients:
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Serve with rice
Instructions:
- Add cornstarch, salt, and black pepper to a large plastic storage bag. Mix everything up and throw in the sliced beef. Seal the bag and toss everything around until the beef is fully coated.
- Heat up vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the beef and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add broccoli to the same skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until it’s tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
- Add garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds or until fragrant. Pour in beef broth, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir everything around until it’s combined.
- In a small bowl, mix together cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water. Pour it into the skillet with the sauce and stir around. Bring everything to boil and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes or until it’s thickened.
- Add beef and broccoli back into the skillet with the sauce. Stir everything around until it’s fully coated. Serve with rice.
Recipe 3: Rasa Malaysia
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound flank steak, sliced against the grain
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon sesame oil
- Ground white pepper
- Serve with rice
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat up vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat. Toss in minced garlic and stir-fry for about 10 seconds.
- Add sliced beef to the wok and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes or until it’s browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
- Add broccoli to the same wok and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes or until it’s cooked through. Remove the broccoli from the wok and set aside.
- In the same wok or skillet, add beef broth, oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame oil. Stir everything around until it’s combined.
- Add beef and broccoli back into the wok with the sauce. Stir everything around until it’s fully coated. Serve with rice.
Recipe 4: Mel’s Kitchen Cafe
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 cups broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Serve with rice
Instructions:
- In a large plastic storage bag, mix together cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Add sliced flank steak and shake the bag until the beef is fully coated.
- Heat up vegetable oil in a large skillet over high heat. When the oil is hot, add the beef and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes or until it’s browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add broccoli to the same skillet and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes or until it’s tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, pour in soy sauce, brown sugar, flour, and minced garlic. Stir everything around until it’s combined.
- Add beef and broccoli back into the skillet with the sauce. Stir everything around until it’s fully coated. Serve with rice.
